Colin James Farrell (n. Castleknock, Irlanda, 31 de mayo de 1976) es un actor irlandés ganador del Globo de Oro. Ha trabajado en películas como Tigerland, Daredevil, Miami Vice, Minority Report, Phone Booth, The Recruit, Alejandro Magno, S.W.A.T., In Bruges y Total Recall.

Biografía [editar]
Creció en Castleknock, Irlanda. Es hijo y sobrino de ex futbolistas. Eamon Farrell, su padre, le inculcó su afición por el fútbol, aunque siendo adolescente descubrió que su verdadera pasión era la interpretación y el arte dramático. Se apuntó a un grupo de danza que se iba de gira por Australia. Al volver se matriculó en la Escuela de Arte Dramático Gaiety de Dublín, donde estudió actuación e interpretación junto a su hermana. En la Gaiety era de los alumnos más prometedores. Y así, de la capital de Irlanda se fue a Londres.
Vida privada [editar]
Se casó en julio de 2001 con la actriz Amelia Warner, aunque su matrimonio duró apenas cuatro meses. Se le han atribuido numerosos romances: se le relacionó tras la ruptura con Isabel Lemus, Demi Moore y Britney Spears. También mantuvo relaciones sentimentales con la chica Playboy Nicole Narain, con Paris Hilton y, durante el rodaje de Alejandro Magno, con Angelina Jolie.
Tiene un hijo con la modelo Kim Bordenave, James que padece una enfermedad genética llamada Síndrome de Angelman.
Carrera [editar]
Sus primeras apariciones en cine fueron en La zona oscura, Criminal y decente (donde trabajó junto a Kevin Spacey) y Tigerland, de Joel Schumacher y primera película americana de Colin.
Otras películas en las que ha trabajado han sido Minority Report, Hart's War, The Recruit y Phone Booth, este último del realizador Joel Schumacher quien por segunda vez dirigió a Farrell en un concepto novedoso donde el 90% de la película se desarrolla dentro de una cabina telefónica donde el protagonista se ve atrapado bajo amenazas de un psicópata.
En 2004 el actor da vida a Alejandro Magno en la película, de Oliver Stone (Alexander).
También tuvo un pequeño cameo en la serie televisiva Scrubs en el papel de Billy Callahan en el capítulo 14 de la cuarta temporada.
En El sueño de Casandra, de Woody Allen, donde Farrell y Ewan McGregor interpretan a dos hermanos muy distintos. Posteriormente ha rodado dos películas de directores emergentes: Pride and Glory y Escondidos en Brujas. La segunda, un thriller con toques de humor negro, aupó a Farrell como ganador de un Globo de Oro.
En el 2009, Jude Law, Johnny Depp y Colin Farrell sustituyerón en las escenas finales al fallecido actor Heath Ledger en la película The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.
