DC Rebirth es un re lanzamiento en 2016 de DC Cómics con respecto a su linea completa de títulos mensuales de cómics de superheroes. Usando como punto de partida el final de la iniciativa de Los Nuevos 52, DC Rebirth quiere restaurar el Universo DC a una forma mucho mas similar a lo que era previo al evento "Flashpoint" mientras que sigue incorporando numerosos elementos de Los Nuevos 52, incluyendo su continuidad. También podremos ver varios de sus títulos moverse a dos publicaciones por mes al calendario, con todos los títulos nuevos saliendo al mercado al precio de US$2,99.
Historia de publicación[editar]
En enero 2016, co editores de DC Comics Dan Didio y Jim Lee twittearon una imagen de una cortina azul con la palabra "Rebirth" escrita sobre ella, dando conocimiento a los fans sobre el evento.[1] El siguiente mes, DC Comics anuncio su iniciativa Rebirth, un re lanzamiento de toda su linea de títulos actuales, que empezaría en junio del 2016. Comenzando con un one-shot de 80 paginas que seria publicado en mayo 25 del 2016, Rebirth tambien regresaria Action Comics y Detective Comics a su numeracion previa (#957 y #934, respectivamente), ademas todos los nuevos títulos serian puestos en el mercado al precio de US$2,99. Múltiples títulos serian cambiados a dos publicaciones por mes, un numero de títulos existentes serian re lanzados como números #1, y lanzamientos de diversos nuevos títulos.[2]
Geoff Johns describió el one-shot de 80 paginas como: "re acomodando los cimientos para el futuro de DC, mientras celebramos el pasado y el presente. No es sobre deshacerse de cosas, sino mas bien todo lo contrario." Comento con respecto a la iniciativa, la cual fue descrita como el renacimiento del Universo de DC, Johns llama Rebirth mas como: "de la misma manera en que trajimos Green Lanter: Rebirth y Flash: Rebirth. Algunas cosas alteran y cambian, pero es mas con respecto a la historia de los personajes, y también mas con respecto a revelar secretos y misterios dentro del Universo DC como "Flashpoint" y Los Nuevos 52 que son parte de un plan mas grande." La iniciativa Rebirth volverá a re introducir conceptos previos a la continuidad pre-Flashpoint, tal como legacy, que fueron conceptos que se perdieron una vez introducidos Los Nuevos 52 y construidos "sobre todo lo que fue desde el inicio de Action Comics #1 hasta Los Nuevos 52."[3] Lee commenta con respecto a Johns: "Ideamos esta brillante historia [para el DC Universe: Rebirth Special] que basicamente nos permite conectar la continuidad actual de Los Nuevos 52 con la continuidad que le precedia. Asi que realmente syncronisa y crea esta harmonia de continuidad pre-52 con la continuidad de Los Nuevos 52.[4]
Se asignaron nuevos equipos creativos para los títulos de Rebirth, que incluyen equipos de arte y de narración los cuales fueron revelados en WonderCon 2016.[5][6]Johns trabajo para los titulos con cada equipo de escritores y de editores para ayudar a reenfocar "en estos personajes, deconstruyendolos hasta su centro de ADN y construyendo nuevos arcos con respecto a esta deconstruccion".[4] Adicionalmente, dos titulos parten del anuncion inicial en febrero, Gotham Academy: Second Semester y Earth 2,[2] pero fue revelado que ya no son considerados parte de los titulos de Rebirth, en cambio actuan como continuasiones the sus titulos durante Los Nuevos 52, Gotham Academy y Earth 2: Society, respectivamente.[5] Con respecto a la decisión de enfocarse en un menor numero de títulos, con algunos siendo mandados dos veces al mes,DiDio dijo: "Lo que nosotros hicimos fue eliminar algunos de los títulos con poca popularidad, y ahora estamos tratando de incorporar estas ideas hacia los títulos principales, porque sentimos que hace las narraciones de los títulos principales mucho mas fuertes" añadiendo, "nosotros vemos las cosas como... Gotham by Midnight. Y yo amo Gotham by Midnight, pero nunca tuvo el impacto que un titulo con relación a Batman debería de tener. Pero si nosotros hiciéramos que la historia de Gotham by Midnight la integráramos en la serie actual de Batman que se envía dos veces al mes, hay mejores posibilidades de que personas conozcan a estos personajes, se emocionen por estos personajes, y mas importante, si nosotros alguna vez decidiéramos desarrollarlos mas, tal vez tendríamos una audiencia mucho mas solida y una mejor posibilidad para que las series tuvieran éxito." Didio también revelo que DC tuvo que romper con fechas en el calendario "en donde nosotros decidiéramos si los envíos dobles por mes fueran a funcionar o no" y potencialmente cambiarlo a un estatus mensual únicamente. "Nosotros vamos a continuar examinando esto regularmente" añadió Didio. "No vamos a continuar con los envios dobles por mes si la demanda no esta ahi."[4]
Con respecto al lanzamiento de portadas variantes para los títulos, Lee dijo: "nosotros solo usaremos variantes especiales con tiendas y portadas variantes de manera razonable. Nosotros no vamos a tener una enorme cantidad de SKUs a lo largo de la linea de títulos. Nos dimos cuenta en este punto de que no tenia caso publicar estas historias si lo único que hacemos es construir un negocio a base de portadas variantes. Todavía estamos usando las portadas variantes, pero estamos usando un artista de portada variante por cada titulo.Ellos con esto empiezan a tener una cierta permanencia, por así decirlo. Y ellos van a ser los responsables de encargarse de ser los artistas de las portadas variantes. Y únicamente lo estamos haciendo en nuestros títulos mas vendidos.[4]
En mayo 27, 2016, DC anuncio que el DC Universe: Rebirth Special#1 recibiría una segunda impresión. El re lanzamiento, seria vendido al precio de US$5,99, con una portada actualizada a la de Gary Frank, revelando la mano estirada de Doctor Manhattan en la esquina superior derecha, también con un formato de cuadricula que delimita la imagen.[7] A menos de una semana antes, DC revelo que el titulo recibiria una tercera impresion, nuevamente que seria lanzado a US$5,99 con un formato delimitado por un cuadrado, y una nueva portada de Frank. Ademas, la primera ola de one-shots de Rebirth - Batman: Rebirth, Green Lanterns: Rebirth, Superman: Rebirth y Green Arrow: Rebirth - también recibirían segundas impresionas, con los títulos de Rebirth re coloreados para diferenciar de la portada original.[8] Una cuarta impresion presentaria una portada por Ethan Van Sciver mostrando la escena donde Wally West interrumpe a Batman en la Baticueva, con la imagen de los 3 Guasones en los monitores de la computadora.[9] La quinta impresion de DC Universe: Rebirth Special, seria anunciada en Agosot 2016, presentando una nueva portada por Phil Jimenez.[10]
Cambios al universo de DC[editar]
Con los lanzamientos de DC Universe: Rebirth Special, personajes que no son vistos durante Los Nuevos 52, incluyendo a Wally West, Jackson Hyde / Aqualad, Ryan Choi y Doctor Fate, regresaron a la continuidad, mientras otros personajes, tal como Ted Kord y Ray Palmer / Atom regresaron a su caracterización previa a Flashpoint, Ademas, Wally West explica la causa por la cual el universo se altero y re inicio después de los eventos sucedidos en Flashpoint, ya que no fueron causados por Barry Allen tratando de arreglar las lineas de tiempo. Sino mas bien por razones que son todavía desconocidas, pero es revelado que Doctor Manhattan (del universo de Watchmen) interfirio y quito aproximadamente 10 años de vida de cada personaje, lo cual resulto en la temprana edad de los heroes en Los Nuevos 52, y la perdida de los legados y relaciones previas.[11]
