Joseph Barry Galbraith (18 de diciembre de 1919 - 13 de enero de 1983) fue un guitarrista de jazz estadounidense. [1]​

Se mudó a la ciudad de Nueva York desde McDonald, PA a principios de la década de 1940 y encontró trabajo tocando con Babe Russin, Art Tatum, Red Norvo, Hal McIntyre y Teddy Powell. Jugó con Claude Thornhill en 1941-1942 y nuevamente en 1946-1949 después de servir en el ejército. Hizo una gira con Stan Kenton en 1953.

Hizo un extenso trabajo como músico de estudio para NBC y CBS en las décadas de 1950 y 1960; entre aquellos con los que jugó estaban Miles Davis, Michel Legrand, Tal Farlow, Coleman Hawkins, George Barnes, John Lewis, Hal McKusick, Oscar Peterson, Max Roach, George Russell, John Carisi, Urbie Green y Tony Scott. También acompañó en el disco a las cantantes Anita O'Day, Chris Connor, Billie Holiday, Helen Merrill, Sarah Vaughan y Dinah Washington. Fue mentor de Ralph Patt. [2]​

En 1961 apareció en la película After Hours. En 1963-1964 tocó en el álbum de Gil Evans The Individualism of Gil Evans, y en 1965 apareció en la banda sonora de Stan Getz y Eddie Sauter para la película Mickey One de 1965. De 1970 a 1975 enseñó en CUNY y publicó un libro de métodos de guitarra en 1982. De 1976 a 1977, Galbraith enseñó guitarra en el Conservatorio de Nueva Inglaterra en Boston.

Murió de cáncer en Bennington a la edad de 63 años. [3]​
