Dutton ha publicado trabajos sobre inteligencia humana, como un estudio que fue coautor con Richard Lynn, donde concluyenron que los científicos físicos son más inteligentes que los científicos sociales.[10]​[11]​ También ha estudiado el coeficiente intelectual promedio en Finlandia, y la aparente discrepancia entre el coeficiente intelectual promedio alto de Finlandia y su relativa falta de científicos ganadores del Premio Nobel.[12]​[13]​

Dutton ha sido invitado al podcast de extrema derecha Red Ice Media.[21]​[22]​ Dutton escribió un artículo en defensa de la serie de libros Culture of Critique de Kevin B.
