Def Leppard es una banda británica de Glam metal y hard rock originaria de Sheffield, Reino Unido, que iniciara su carrera a finales de los años setenta, y que alcanzaría su éxito con mayúsculas en la década de los ochenta, acercando al heavy metal a las emisoras de radio y al gran público en general, gracias a una mezcla rara de hard rock melódico con un gran trabajo vocal. Junto a otras bandas como Bon Jovi, Guns N' Roses y Iron Maiden, es reconocida como una de las bandas de Heavy Metal superventas de los años 80.

Su discografía consta de 11 álbumes de estudio, 2 álbumes en vivo, 4 compilados y 50 sencillos.

Notas:

  • Existe un DVD en el mercado llamado Classic Albums: Def Leppard - Hysteria (2002) que aunque no oficial, es altamente recomendable. En él, entre otros asuntos, la banda cuenta algunos detalles de cómo se realizó el álbum Hysteria.
  • Igualmente existe un DVD llamado Hysteria: The Def Leppard Story (VIACOM, Paramount, 2001) que hace parte de la serie Movies That Rock! de la cadena VH1. Es un filme que se vale de actores para recrear la historia de Def Leppard desde sus inicios hasta el álbum Hysteria. En la película no hay participación ni aparición de ningún miembro real de la banda, sin embargo es altamente fiel a la historia verdadera.
