James Robert Bruce Ogilvy (29 de febrero de 1964) es el hijo mayor y único varón de Sir Angus Ogilvy y Alejandra de Kent.[1]​[2]​[3]​

Primeros años y familia[editar]

Ogilvy nació en Thatched House Lodge, Richmond Park, Surrey,[4]​[5]​ el primero de cuatro niños nacidos en la realeza británica en 1964. Al nacer un 29 de febrero en año bisiesto, su cumpleaños inicial tiene lugar cada cuatro años. Ogilvy fue bautizado por Arthur Michael Ramsey, arzobispo de Canterbury con Isabel II entre sus siete padrinos.[6]​ Cuando nació era 13° en la línea de sucesión al trono británico.[2]​ En 2018, ocupaba el puesto 53°.[7]​

Educación y vida profesional[editar]

Su educación comenzó en la "palace school" que se montó en el Palacio de Buckingham junto a sus primos, el príncipe Eduardo, Lady Helen Windsor y Lady Sarah Armstrong-Jones.[8]​ Luego Ogilvy asistió a Gibbs[9]​ y luego al Heatherdown School (junto al príncipe Eduardo)[9]​.[10]​ Después de eso, Ogilvy y el príncipe Eduardo se separaron, el príncipe fue a Gordonstoun y Cambridge y Ogilvy al Eton College y la Universidad de Saint Andrews.[11]​ En Saint Andrews, se graduó de un grado en Artes.[11]​

Trabajó para Barclays de Zoete Wedd (BZW) y luego en una agencia de envíos en Edimburgo.[12]​

Es el fundador de Luxury Briefing, una revista lanzada por primera vez en 1996.[3]​[13]​

Vida personal[editar]

Se casó con Julia Caroline Rawlinson el 30 de julio de 1988 en la iglesia de Santa María la Virgen, en Saffron Walden, Essex. La pareja tiene dos hijos:[3]​[14]​

También es padrino de su sobrina tercera Eugenia de York, hija menor de Andrés de York y Sarah Ferguson.

En 1997, mientras estaba de vacaciones en Florida con su mujer e hijos, nadó mar adentro y fue mordido por un tiburón.[12]​ Los ataques de tiburón en Florida habían llegado a un récord de 29 en 1995 pero habían bajado a 13 ataques en 1996.[12]​ En 1997, tan "solo"[12]​ hubo cinco ataques en todo el mundo, dos de ellos ocurrieron en el estado de Florida, según un experto marino de la Universidad de Florida. Ogilvy sufrió varias heridas en la piernas y tuvieron que ponerle 30 puntos.[12]​
