James Marvin Lockhart (Huntington, Virginia Occidental, 8 de abril de 1933)[1]​ es un historiador, catedrático y académico estadounidense que se ha especializado en el estudio de la época colonial en Latinoamérica.

Semblanza biográfica

Realizó sus estudios de licenciatura en la Universidad de Virginia Occidental y de maestría y doctorado en la Universidad de Wisconsin-Madison.[2]​ Se ha especializado en el estudio de las fuentes históricas escritas en idioma náhuatl y en la cultura nahua de la época poscolonial. Es profesor emérito de la Universidad de California en Los Ángeles (UCLA).[3]​ Es uno de los principales fundadores de la llamada escuela New Philology, la cual construye la historia en base al estudio de las fuentes escritas en lenguas indígenas de la época colonial de México.
