A lo largo de su carrera trabajó en numerosas películas como El color púrpura (1985), Ghost (1990), Sister Act (1992), Sister Act 2: de vuelta al convento (1993) y El rey león (1994), entre otras. Además apaerció como estrella invitada en numerosas series televisivas como The Dolly Show, Star Trek: The Next Generation y The Nanny
