Peter Schilling (nacido Pierre Michael Schilling el 28 de enero de 1956 en Stuttgart, Alemania), es un músico alemán cuyas canciones suelen versar sobre temas de ciencia-ficción, la exploración espacial, o el holocausto nuclear.

Su mayor éxito internacional lo alcanza con el álbum Error in the System (1983), que contiene el tema "Major Tom (Coming Home)". Esta canción retoma el argumento del clásico de David Bowie "Space Oddity" de 1969. Ya había sido editado un año antes en Alemania como "Major Tom (Völlig losgelöst)"), incluido en el álbum Fehler im System. En 1984 y 1985 se publican los discos 120 Grad y su versión en inglés Things to Come, respectivamente. En 1989 se edita el recopilatorio The Different Story (World of Lust and Crime) (se publicaría en Alemania tres años más tarde), que incluye la canción homónima producida por el que sería el creador del proyecto musical Enigma, Michael Cretu.

Peter Schilling es también autor de dos libros: Lust Faktor Wellness (2005) y Emotionen sind männlich (2007).

Actualmente (2008) vive en Múnich, Alemania, cantando, componiendo y colaborando con otros artistas.

El tema "Major Tom" también se usó en el episodio de Wildboyz - Vomit Comet, donde los protagonistas Steve-O, Chris Pontius y Johnny Knoxville flotan en un avión a gran altura.
