Rubiales began his career in [[1998]] in [[Guadix CD]], a very successful season with 10 goals in 47 games. After a stint in the [[Mallorca B]] and [[UE Lleida]], Rubiales reaches the [[Xerez CD]] with the aim of promotion to [[Spain Primera Division | Primera Division]], merit was close to reaching the Andalusian team, led by [[Bernd Schuster]]. He went on to [[Levante UD]], which itself won promotion twice, in [[2004]] and [[2006]]. During this period he spent much time without pay for the economic problems of their club. After five seasons, becoming one of the older players of the entity [[Valencia]], but played sparingly in [[2004]] and [[2006]] because of two long consecutive lesions Rubiales arrived in [[2008]] to newly promoted to [[Second Division in Spain | Second]] [[Alicante CF]], but only played 13 times. Luis Manuel Rubiales Béjar (Motril, Granada, 23 de agosto de 1977) fue un futbolista español y actual presidente de la Asociación de Futbolistas Españoles (AFE).[1] Jugaba en la posición de lateral izquierdo.

Rubiales began his career in 1998 in Guadix CD, a very successful season with 10 goals in 47 games. After a stint in the Mallorca B and UE Lleida, Rubiales reaches the Xerez CD with the aim of promotion to Primera Division, merit was close to reaching the Andalusian team, led by Bernd Schuster. He went on to Levante UD, which itself won promotion twice, in 2004 and 2006. During this period he spent much time without pay for the economic problems of their club. Tras retirarse en Escocia y liderar una candidatura alternativa a Gerardo González Movilla en la Asociación de Futbolistas Españoles (AFE), el 8 de marzo de 2010 se anunció que González Movilla renunciaba a revalidar su cargo como presidente, quedando Rubiales como único candidato y por tanto, presidente.
Rubiales destacó por su largo recorrido y por su polivalencia en la línea defensiva y en el centro del campo. Su tenacidad y sacrificio le dieron el sobrenombre de pundonor.
