Carlyle August Luer ( Alton (Illinois), 23 de agosto de 1922-Sarasota, 9 de noviembre de 2019)​​ fue un botánico estadounidense y conservador de museo del Jardín Botánico de Misuri.

Su área de interés fueron las Espermatófitas, con énfasis en Pleurothallidinae (género Pleurothallis) y especies conexas.​

El botánico falleció el 9 de noviembre de 2019, a los noventa y siete años, a consecuencia de las complicaciones derivadas de una caída.​
