Cephalostachyum, es un género de plantas herbáceas perteneciente a la familia de las poáceas.[1]Es originario de Madagascar, India, China e Indochina.[1] Su hábitat son de montaña hasta las tierras bajas de los bosques.

El número cromosómico básico del género es x = 12, con números cromosómicos somáticos de 2n = 72. 6 ploide.[1]
Taxonomía
Se han excluido de este género las siguientes especies:
- Cephalostachyum griffithii (Munro) Kurz., cambia a Teinostachyum griffithii Munro
- Cephalostachyum malayaense Ridl., cambia a Dendrocalamus pendulus Ridl.
