The "Mapa distributivo del trepador siberiano y las diferentes subespecies del trepador azul en Asia" shown in this wikipedia article does not reflect its source (Ref 1, see e.g. http://repository.naturalis.nl/document/43019) nor does it reflect the conclusions of Ref 12. The subspecies lumped into "Sitta europaeeus albifrons" in this map belong according to the indicated source (Ref 1) to in fact four subspecies: sakhalinensis, clara, takatsukasai, and albifrons (see map in Ref 1). Of those four, sakhalinensis (on Sakhalin), clara (on Hokkaido and southern Kurils), and takatsukasai (on central Kurils) are closer associated with asiatica, whereas the race on Kamchatka and on northern Kurils (albifrons) is closest associated with arctica. In Ref 1 it is underlined that the birds from Kamchatka and northern Kurils sharply are distinguished from the race takatsukasai in the middle Kurils, and show characters that bring it in closer association with arctica rather than with birds on Sakhalin, Hokkaido, or middle and southern Kurils. Lumping the four subspecies together as implicated in the map shown in this article is unwarranted. (sorry for the English, I don't speak Spanish, but the comment may be useful nevertheless).
