The factories today need to automate their production process, therefore a lot of money has been spent by several industries around the world. Automation is the use of machines which follow an instruction List that is shown in the G-code, which is the most widely used numerical control (NC) programming language, it has many implementations. Used mainly in automation which is part of computer-aided engineering.

Language[editar]

The G-code is a language in which engineer tell computerized machine tools what to make and how to make it. The engineer or designer defines "how" with the instructions that tell CNC (computer numerical control) machine where it has to move, how fast has to move, and through what path has to move. The most common situation is that a cutting tool is moved according to these instructions, cutting away excess material to leave only the finished workpiece. Non-cutting tools, such as cold-forming tools, burnishing tools, or measuring probes, are also sometimes involved.

Numerical Control[editar]

NC is the automation of machine tools which are operated by programmed commands inside a storage medium, it can be controlled manually via handwheels or levers, or mechanically automated via cams alone. Most NC today uses the computer numerical control (CNC) which the Computer is a importan part of the control. The modern CNC systems are supported by Computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) programs. These programs produce a computer file which is interpreted to extract the necessary commands to operate a particular machine, and then loaded into the CNC machines for production. Modern machines often combine multiple tools, because several component require different tools to be manufactured, some machines are assisted by external robots or machines which move the components from machine to machine or change the tools.

Robotic Use[editar]

Many important industries are adopting robots to manufacture it could be the whole process or maybe just a little work station, but thanks to this improvement the industry can advance to a new level making possible produce way more faster than a person can do or simply reach a higher standard of quality. Some like car industries use this kind of process to create every car, where the user doesn't have to work directly with the parts. Other examples could be in the food , beverage , glass industry and so on.

CNC Types[editar]

Milling Machines[editar]

The vertical CNC milling machine and the Vertical Machining Center are the most common CNC machine tools found in shops today. They can be easily adapted to a great variety of workpieces.

Vertical CNC milling machines are easy to load, and their operators have good visibility.Vertical CNC machining centers are usually considered good,all-purpose machine tools, but they are not as heavy-duty as their horizontal cousins.Chips can also be difficult to remove, as they tend to fall back into the cutting zone.

The Horizontal Machining Center is similar in construction to the conventional horizontal milling machine; however, its use is often very different.

Lathes[editar]

The CNC lathe is another common machine tool in job shops and production facilities.CNC lathes have some unique advantages over their conventional counterparts. They can put circular arcs that were all but impossible to cut on a conventional lathe without special tooling. CNC lathes are also good at thread turning.A CNC lathe can cut virtually at any pitch and any number of leads, and it can even cut variable pitch threads without ever selecting or changing the gears.[1]
