Gonzalo Martinez de Azagra (born 1981) is a Spanish technology investor and business angel. He is the founder and chairman of Cardumen Capital SGEIC, S.A. and Head of Samsung Ventures Israel☃☃. In 2014, he established the Samsung Ventures Israel office. He is a board member at StoreDot Ltd., Corephotonics inc., Giraffic, Aveni and EarlySense and the Young Venture Capital Forum in Israel. His investments include PrimeSense, Replay Technologies☃☃, Rounds, Corephotonics, Elastifile, Cortica, EarlySense, Magisto, and ScyllaDB. Gonzalo is a mentor in the BIND 4.0[2]​ startup accelorator program and a member of the Bilbao Bizkaia Finance Hub.

In the past, he co-founded a Spain based business angel group called Microwave Ventures to support promising entrepreneurs with seed capital. Prior to Samsung Ventures, Gonzalo worked for PricewaterhouseCooper's Advisory practice in Strategy, Finance and Process projects for various sectors. Gonzalo began his career at AEA Technology Plc., the former Atomic Energy Authority in the United Kingdom as a Systems and EMI engineer.

Education

He graduated from Imperial College in London (United Kingdom) in 2003 with Masters in Electrical & Electronic Engineering. Gonzalo completed his Master thesis and final year at Telecom Paris (ENST).

In 2009, he graduated from the University of London, with London School of Economics as lead college with a BsC in Economics and Management. He also holds an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley.

Teaching and lecturing

Gonzalo has taught undergraduate courses in Strategy & Process at the University of Deusto, La Comercial on behalf of PriceWaterhouseCoopers. On the Graduate level, Gonzalo has lectured in courses at the in EOI (Escuela de Organizacion Industrial) and the University of California, Berkeley. At the University of California, Berkeley, he taught and assisted professors in the areas of Venture Capital, Venture Finance, Corporate Strategy and Leadership Communications. For his contribution to the Berkeley MBA's graduate program Gonzalo received the Outstanding Graduate Instructor award in 2010[15]​.

Gonzalo has also lectured in Strategy for Samsung's Executive education program at HRDC.
