Abbé Nozal is a Spanish artist whose extensive professional career has been expressed in multiple creative disciplines: painting, graphic art, digital art, illustration and corporate design, ceramic murals, concrete sculptures, stained glass in reinforced concrete. At present he shares painting with two of his most recent passions: cinema and stained glass sculptures.

In 2004 he directed his first short feature film, “La canción de Marta” (Marta’s Song), in 35 mm which obtained in July 2005 the award for the “Best foreign language short feature film” at the New York II Film Festival in Las Vegas.

Concerning stained glass sculptures, he has designed the “The Memory of Water” project as a challenge towards urban sculpture.

As a painter he has held 22 individual exhibitions and 61 collective exhibitions since 1969, in Spain, UK, USA and France. In 1986 he was invited to participate at the inauguration of the Art Centre Reina Sofía in Madrid, at the exhibition "Processes, Culture and New Technologies", and there he showed his first works with an exclusively digital conception and development.

He has taught numerous courses of Design, as well as different seminars about the relationship between art and society. During 1996/7 he lectured at the University of Clermont-Ferrand, France, the Spanish Institute and the One World Trade Centre of New York, USA.

He is a long-time collaborator of different media. From 1988 up to 1996 he maintained the opinion section "Cuatro cantones" at the Spanish El Norte de Castilla newspaper. In that year he promoted the group ADN (Arte Durante Nespués) for the execution of impossible projects, integrated by artists from Spain, USA, France and Venezuela, negotiating the installation "Ties." In 1992 he created “La Casa del Agua” (The House of Water), an entity for the promotion of Arts, developing an important cycle of talks from the most noted contemporary writers and carrying out different collective exhibitions as "Painters in Front of the Bull" (1992), "The Never Seen" (1995), which was pioneering in the edition of a Braille catalogue, and "Seeing Palencia” (1996).

In 1995 he was the first Spanish artist who brought his studio to Internet; today the pages of www.nozal.com website are a strong referent of discussion on digital art. They offer nearly 300 works and they receive more than 4,000 monthly visits.

In 1998 he attended the Workshop of New Digital Technologies, sponsored by the Botín Foundation and endorsed by José Ramón Alcalá, professor of New Technologies at the Cuenca Faculty of Arts (Spain).

In 2004 he scripted and directed the short feature film Marta's Song, in 35 mm. It was produced by VITAE PICTURES PRODUCTIONS and in July 2005, obtained the prize for the best foreign language short movie at the New York II Film Festival of Las Vegas.
