David Beriain Arana (Artajona, Navarre 1977- ) is a current freelance journalist specialized on war conflicts coverage and multimedia reporting. He has spent his entire career covering international conflicts in Iraq, Afghanistan, Colombia, Darfur, Congo Kurdistan and Cashmere for ADN, Cuatro or CNN +, being the only Spanish journalist embedded with the Taliban troops and one of the last journalists having access to the FARC´s military bases. He now directs the multimedia webpage “En pie de Guerra” together with the photographer and work partner Sergio Caro. Since May 2011 he also joined the “Medina Media” production corporation as the coordinator of “Comando R”, a team formed by all-terrain journalists with broad experience in in-depth research and war-conflicts. His works have given him several awards such the “Ortega Y Gasset”, shared with other journalists, for his coverage of the Iraq War and the main Spanish digital journalism award “Jose Manuel Porquet” for his series of reports “Ten days with the FARCs”. For this last work he was also nominated for the most prestigious award in the war correspondents´ field, the “Bayeux of Normandy”.
