ughlins Gage.—Dessert. Mid-August. Fruitlarge, roundish, yellow, speckled with red; flesh greenish-yellow, tender, juicy, not equal in flavour to Green Gage.Tree hardy and prolific. Mitchelsons.— Culinary. Early September. Fruitmedium, oval, black; flesh yellow, parting from the stone,very juicy and sweet. A first-rate preserving Plum, andbeing an extraordinary bearer, is largely grown formarket. Monarch (fig. 956).—Culinary. Late September. Fruitlarge, roundish-oval, dark - purple; flesh very firm andjuicy. Tree quite hardy, very prolific, succeeding eitheras a standard, cordon, or bush. A first-rate market kind.Raised by Mr. Rivers from Autumn Compote. Nectarine Plum. — Dessert and culinary. August.Fruit large, roundish, when not too thick on the tree,otherwise oval, reddish-purple, bloom thin; flesh tolerablyrich, greenish-yellow, partially adhering to the stone.Tree a great bearer, frequently so much so that unless thecrop is thinned the branches break down with the weight

Fruit large,roundish, depressed on the summit, purplish-red, withpale-red specks, bloom close, giving it a handsome Prus-sian-blue colour; flesh yellowish-green, firm, parting freelyfrom the stone, fairly rich and juicy. Also known asOld Orleans, Red Damask, Monsieur. Oullins Golden.—Dessert. Early August. Fruit large,roundish oval, rich yellow with crimson dots; flesh yellow,slightly adhering to the stone, tender, rich, and juicy.
