Fruit large, hand-some, roundish - oblong, depressed at both ends, purple.bloom azure; flesh firm, greenish - yellow, coarse, adher-ing to the stone; Stalk downy, not smooth as in theNectarine. Also known as St. Cloud, Steers Emperor,Wilmots late Orleans, Caledonian, and Nectarine. Grand Duke (fig. 955). — Culinary. Mid - October.Fruit large, oval, deep-purple in colour, covered with adense blue bloom; flesh yellowish, firm, and sweet. Avariety of great excellence, raised by Mr. Rivers fromAutumn Compote. Generally an abundant bearer, either as a standard or trained against a wall. It has also been called Isleworth Green Gage, Wilmots Green Gage, Bradford Gage, Ahicot Vert, Damas Vert, Dauphine, Grosse Heine, Grosse Heine Claude, Reine Claude, Sucrin Vert, Verte Bonne.
