DescripciónSaturn V Rocket, 2nd Stage – Johnson Space Center. 20-3-2017 (25828063697).jpg
The Saturn V was the launch vehicle for all twelve Apollo missions and also the sole Skylab mission.
This is the second stage of one of only three complete Saturn V rockets to exist and which consists of the following components:-
1st stage ‘S-IC-14’ from SA-514, which was planned to fly on Apollo 19.
2nd stage ‘S-II-15’ from SA-515, which was planned to fly on Apollo 20 (seen here)
and
3rd stage ‘S-IVB-513’ from SA-513, which was planned to fly on Apollo 18 but was replaced by the Skylab orbital workshop and the mission renamed ‘Skylab 1’.
This is therefore the only surviving Saturn V rocket made entirely from components actually intended to fly. It went on display outside in 1979 but in 2005 it was restored and has since been on display in a protective building.
