Below is anancient Crypt with a font. — The ruins of an octagonal Baptistery of1008 adjoin the cathedral. — The top of the Campanile commands an ad-mirable view of the lagoons and the sea. — S. Fosca, built on a Byzant-ine model and dating in its present form from the 12th cent., is externallyoctagonal (interior intended for a dome, but at present covered with a flatroof) and is of interest for architects. On five sides it is enclosed by anarcade supported by columns (sixteen in number, and four corner-pillars).— The antiquities discovered in Torcello have been collected in two smallMuseums. S.
