Livingston's sugar house (left) on the south side of Liberty Street between Nassau Street and William Street, and Middle Dutch Church (right) on the corner of Nassau Street. The sugar house had become notorious during the American Revolution, when it was used by the British to incarcerate American prisoners of war.
