Text appearing in the book SMELTING PLANT WITH ROUND FURNACE. On page 110, plate No. 83, we represent a complete smelting plant of 30 tons capacity in 24 hours. The general arrangement is such that the ore can be handled to the best advantage with the least expense. Above the charging floor is a storage bin for ores and fluxes on top of which a 7x10 Blake Crusher is situated. This crusher is used for breaking up rock and limestone too large for the furnace, and is of ample size. The balance of the machinery is fully shown on the engraving. A suitable blower furnishes blast to the 36" circular water jacket furnace described below. The engine and boiler used for driving blower and crusher is located in a separate room and is of sufficient capacity for handling the machinery properly. |
