English: This is my first version of my proposal for an Earth flag. I played with the idea of having simplified versions of the continents placed on a green disc, but found that this would always leave someone out. Someone would always complain that their island isn't represented etc.. So instead I decided to represent each continent (Africa, Antarctica, Asia, Europe, North-America, South America and Oceania) with a star. The star has been used throughout history on flags to represent something so it seemed fitting.

For the placement of the stars I decided to use the dymaxion map. It is the map that is made to show least preference on any given continent in terms of size distortion. Around the earth represented with green I placed a white ring to represent air. The green earth is not actually supposed to initially represent the planet, but more earth itself (grass, mountains, mud etc). It also is united in a circle and placed in the sea. Now given that our planet is 70% water I tried to make it take less space on the flag to show this. It is not however showing the correct ratio between this (maybe it should?). The white circle represents the moon. On the left side I placed 4 stars representing 4 principles of humanity. There could be less or more depending on the principles we wish to include. (I initially thought of having stars representing the 30 articles of human rights, but I wanted a flag representing the planet as a whole and not just humans on the planet).

I stuck with Hope, Unity, Equality and Exploration (not only space, but also the mind, science etc).
