There is Ashoka Stupa Chaitya on all four sides of Patan in Lalitpur district. When Emperor Ashoka and his daughter Charumati came from Lumbini to visit the Swayambhu Chaitya, they are said to have erected four chaityas or stupas around the Patan Bazaar with Buddha's bones in their wombs. Ashoka Chaitya of these four Shuras is considered to be the symbol of four ages i.e. Satya Yuga, Treta Yuga, Dwapar Yuga and Kali Yuga. The Ashok Chaitya Vihar is located on the north side of Patan Bazaar on the way to Shankhamul. That is, there is this chaitya near Yampi Mahavihar. Its establishment is said to be the day of the rise of the Vada era. It is also called Ivahithudo. This stupa is very beautiful. Around the stupa, there are places to light sattals, mane and lamps.
