Carrera

Inicios

A finales de los años 90 Matt Sydal perfeccionó su colección de habilidades (artes marciales, gimnasia, atletismo) y las combinó con su nuevo interés, la lucha libre profesional. Junto con un heterogéneo equipo de vecinos, Sydal consiguió una gran calidad de lucha profesional en el ring. Matt Sydal estaba en el equipo de lucha de su instituto. Ring of Honor

After wrestling Styles several times, they teamed up for matches against ROH Tag Team Champions Austin Aries and Roderick Strong. Sydal also teamed up with Samoa Joe and Jack Evans to try and win the Tag Team title. Sydal went to the finals of the 2006 Survival of the Fittest event, before losing to Delirious. Sydal and Delirious brought their rivalry back to ROH as they engaged in several matches during the summer and fall of 2006.

On November 25, 2006, Sydal teamed with Christopher Daniels to defeat the Kings of Wrestling (Chris Hero and Claudio Castagnoli) for the ROH World Tag Team Championship. Sydal and Daniels successfully defended their title against Shingo and CIMA on December 22, 2006.

The duo dropped the title on February 24, 2007 in Chicago to the Briscoe Brothers. After coming up unsuccessful in attempts to win the title back along with Claudio Castagnoli, Sydal has gone on to join Larry Sweeney and his stable that also includes Chris Hero, Sara Del Ray and Tank Toland. He lost a match against Mike Quackenbush in the first round of the ROH Race to the Top Tournament. Sydal ended his Ring of Honor run on September 15, 2007 at Man Up in Chicago Ridge, IL in a match against Delirious, the same man he made his ROH debut against. Sydal came up short to his masked opponent, but he got a warm farewell from the midwest crowd.

Dragon Gate

Sydal began touring Japan with Dragon Gate in May of 2006. While there he aligned himself with CIMA, Don Fuji, and Evans to form the New Blood Generation International. He also became a part of CIMA's Typhoon stable. During Dragon Gate's Wrestlejam event, Sydal teamed with Generation Next stablemate Roderick Strong to win the $10,000 Tag Team Challenge. Since his initial tour, Sydal returned in the fall of 2006, the spring of 2007, and will tour with Dragon Gate in the fall of 2007.

Total Nonstop Action y Wrestling Society X

Sydal was featured on the first TNA Pay-Per-View Victory Road as part of the 20 man X Division Gauntlet. He also was part of an online poll for the Sacrifice event. The winner of the poll would meet Christopher Daniels for the TNA X Division Championship. Sydal, along with Jay Lethal and Strong, lost by a large margin to Austin Aries.

Sydal was featured in Wrestling Society X on the first episode, losing to Jack Evans. He was accompanied to the ring by his valet Lizzy Valentine. He also defeated Scorpio Sky and the following week lost to Human Tornado. There was the start of a storyline that would have him feuding with Syxx-Pac over Valentine, but they never actually wrestled before WSX shutdown.

World Wrestling Entertainment

Ohio Valley Wrestling

After becoming a free agent again from his WSX contract, Sydal signed a developmental contract with WWE. Sydal made his WWE developmental debut in the territory, OVW, at the October 10 OVW taping, defeating Jamin Olivencia. On December 5, he defeated Mike Kruel to win the OVW Heavyweight Championship.

It was announced on February 7th, 2008 that the WWE had ceased affiliation with OVW. Sydal then lost the OVW Heavyweight Championship to Jay Bradley on February 13. Sydal was then on the roster of WWE's sole developmental territory, Florida Championship Wrestling.

Florida Championship Wrestling

ECW
