It is the act or action of incorporating, conjoining or reestablishing something or a part as a whole.[1]​  In business an example may be : that most companies to succeed in affairs want to  have a high return on invested capital (ROIC), or maintain a steady competitive advantage regarding other companies with the same products or services in the market.[2]​ [3]

La Favorita S.A. is an Ecuadorian company with an important competitive advantage in the food services [4]​ ,however they need of companies such as PRONACA ,an Ecuadorian company of food processingPRONACA is one of the main food suppliers of La Favorita S.A. If PRONACA and La Favorita S.A. didn’t have an integration between them; the former would lose an important return on invested capital because the latter is its most important business partner and La Favorita without its integration with PRONACA would lose a percentage of their market share as well as customer fidelity. [5]

Is the way to achieve specific goals of a company through an equal order or degree of systemization.[6][7]

Example[editar]

An example of a good management is the one that the Ecuadorian company Cervecería Nacional CN S.A. posses. Cervecería Nacional is the most important drink company in Ecuador with a long history starting in 1913 and it has consolidated an important management through its time. [8]​Cervecería Nacional has not only incorporated alcoholic beverages like most believe, but also other type of drinks such as root beer and water and has succeeded to do so. This process of maintaining the company in an important market segmented has been accomplished through a rigorous system of achieving goals and objectives and maintain the systemization as well as improving it to keep the market share that they have gained through the years.

Tasks of Managers

Integration Management is commonly confused with a knowledge area when it’s a real task or process areas. The process areas are the actions and leads that are taken to achieve a goal or objective [9]​ A manager has responsibilities such as: schedule tasks, purchase projects, replace project team members address risks reschedule tasks to achieve successful project completion, etc.[10]​ Keeping track may be difficult of the various tasks because of the different outcomes that may occur throughout these processes and also because there may exist an overlap of projects and the control of them may turn in to hard task to complete.[11]

Phases of a Project

Integration Management helps a manager coordinate different project activities, the former, is one of the 10 project management areas and is one of the areas that coordinate all aspects of a project.

 Integration Management has contact with the 5 phases of a project a company is developing. [12]​The five phases of a project are: initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling and finally closing. Integration Management assures a smooth development of the project or goal of a company only when it is well executed and performed.[12]

Initiating[editar]

Once the idea of a project has been established it is important to take a course of action and apply the knowledge that has been gained through a prior investigation on the topic.[13]

Planning[editar]

It is the most important phase of the integration management, because it will be the guide or layout in which the manager will use to develop with success the project. There will be a need of incorporation of all types of resources, to assure the complete satisfaction of the goals and objectives.[14]

Executing[editar]

Once the planning phase has been completed, the manager should have the sufficient capacity to complete the tasks and do them in timelapse that should not surpass a deadline previously settled.[15]

Monitoring and Controlling[editar]

This phase consists when the manager supervises the plan of action sttled in the executive and planning phases, to assure that the tasks enacted are been completed and done in the timeframe that was proposed in the beginning.[16]

Closing[editar]

It is the final phase of the integration management process, when all tasks have been completed a review is done to assure that the project has been developed correctly and obtain the results of the former.[17]

Integration Management has specific processes that the manager in charge will use . In an integration management there are 6 processes: develop project charter, develop project management plan, direct and mange project work, perform integrated change control and close project or phrase, theses process are responsible for the overall outcome of the objective or goal targeted as well as its success
