La cuenta AVBOT está inactiva desde 2010; el código del bot asociado a ella, que era usado por otras cuentas bot, estuvo operativo hasta junio de 2015, cuando dejó de usarlo la última de esas cuentas, PatruBOT. A partir de junio de 2016, PatruBOT retomó el patrullaje automático, pero usando un código totalmente distinto.

Introduction[editar]

AVBOT is a project that aims to build an anti-vandalism bot for Wikipedia projects (although it would be useful for all MediaWiki sites).

Its main developer is emijrp, a veteran user of Spanish Wikipedia. This project is in an advanced status, and it is used in Spanish Wikipedia under the nickname AVBOT with great results. You can see it running 24/7. It has reverted more than 200,000 vandalisms.

You can download the source code from Google Code, it is published under GPL v3 license. It uses the pywikipediabot and python-irclib libraries.

Steps[editar]

Please, follow all this steps, if you skip one of the, AVBOT probably won't work fine (or at all):

  1. Create an account to your bot in your Wikipedia
  2. Use web-browser to login in Wikipedia (in your language), and in English Wikipedia (to autocreate the English account, is required)
  3. Download pywikipediabot
  4. Download python-irclib
  5. Download AVBOT
  6. Mix those three packages in the same directory
  7. Add your bot account details to user-config.py file (also 'en' language is needed).
  8. Create these preferences pages:
    1. Messages.css
      1. Vandalism
      2. Blanking
      3. Test
    2. Exclusions.css
    3. Expresions.css
    4. Errors
