Unthrifty loveliness why dost thou spend, Upon thyself thy beauty's legacy? Nauture's bequest gives nothing but doth lend, And being frank she lends to those are free: Then beauteous niggard why dost thou abuse, The bounteous largess given thee to give? Profiless usurer why dost thou use So great a sum of sums yet canst not live? For having traffic with thyself alone, Thou of thyself thy sweet self dost deceive, Then how when nature calls thee to be gone, What acceptable audit canst thou leave? Thy unus'd beauty must be tomb'd with three, Which used lives th'executor to be.

¿Dinos porqué desgastas, la pródiga hermosura,
en tu propia persona, sin legar tu belleza?
Natura no regala su herencia, que la presta
y siendo libre fía a aquellos que son libres.
Entonces, bello avaro, ¿porqué abusas de aquellos
generosos regalos, que te dan para darlos?
Tacaño y usurero, ¿porqué tan mal empleas,
esta suma de sumas, si no logras vivir?
Traficante de ti, sólo contigo mismo,
tu dulce ser defraudas, con tu propia persona.
Cuando Natura llame y tengas que partir:
¿Cómo podrás dejar, un aceptable saldo?
Inútil tu belleza, se enterrará contigo.
Que usada hubiera sido, tu notario más fiel.​
