Soneto 11
As fast as thou shalt wane so fast thou grow'st, In one of thine, from that which thou departest, And that fresh blood which youngly thou bestow'st, Thou mayst call thine, when thou youth convertest, Herein lives wisdom, beauty, and increase, Without this, folly, age, and cold decay, If all were minded so, the times should cease, And threescore year would make'the world away: Let those whom nature hath not made for store, Harsh, featureless, and rude, barrenly perish: Look whom she best endow'd she gave the more; Which bounteous gift thou shouldst in bounty cherish. She carv'd thee for her seal, and meant thereby, Thou shouldts print more, not let that copy die.

El Soneto 11 es uno de los 154 sonetos escritos por el dramaturgo y poeta inglés William Shakespeare. Está considerado como uno de los sonetos shakespearianos sobre la procreación dentro de la secuencia dedica al Fair Youth.

Traducción

Tan raudo como mermes, volverás a crecer,
en lo que vas dejando en uno de los tuyos
y aquella sangre fresca, que lozana entregaste,
podrás llamarla tuya, cuando te sientas viejo.
Esto es sabiduría, belleza y difusión;
lo demás es locura, vejez y triste ocaso
y negarlo es hacer, que el tiempo se concluya
y en sólo doce lustros, acabar con el mundo.
Que aquellos que Natura, no quiere conservar
por informes y rudos, mueran estérilmente,
repara en que te dio, más que a los más dotados
y este don generoso, debes dar con largueza.
Te labró con su sello y a querido con esto,
que tú labres a otros sin que muera el modelo.​
