Geografía

-As of the [[census]]{{GR|2}} of 2000, there were 167,090 people, 67,320 households, and 44,969 families residing in the county.  The [[population density]] was 982 people per square mile (379/km²).  There were 70,365 housing units at an average density of 414 per square&nbsp;mile (160/km²).  The racial makeup of the county was 95.54% [[Race (United States Census)|White]], 0.93% [[Race (United States Census)|Black]] or [[Race (United States Census)|African American]], 0.23% [[Race (United States Census)|Native American]], 1.34% [[Race (United States Census)|Asian]], 0.02% [[Race (United States Census)|Pacific Islander]], 0.65% from [[Race (United States Census)|other races]], and 1.28% from two or more races.  1.69% of the population were [[Race (United States Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Race (United States Census)|Latino]] of any race. 20.1% were of [[Italian people|Italian]], 18.9% [[Irish people|Irish]], 11.1% [[English people|English]], 10.1% [[French people|French]], 6.1% [[French Canadian]] and 6.1% [[portuguese people|Portuguese]] ancestry according to [[Census 2000]]. 92.0% spoke [[English language|English]], 1.9% [[Spanish language|Spanish]], 1.5% [[French language|French]], 1.4% [[portuguese language|Portuguese]] and 1.1% [[Italian language|Italian]] as their first language.

The average household size was 2.45 and the average family size was 3.02.
