English: Throughout Africa, new protest and democracy movements are emerging. Because despite the economic upturn of many African countries, the living situation of most Africans has hardly improved. Instead, democratic principles are being restricted across continents. Thousands of people are walking the streets of Zimbabwe, South Africa, DR Congo, Ethiopia, Senegal, Nigeria, Burundi and other countries, demonstrating, tweeting and blogging for more democracy and self-determination. The Heinrich Böll Foundation and Deutsche Welle are bidding This event is an exceptional opportunity to learn first hand about the latest developments and backgrounds in many African countries. Activists from Senegal and Zimbabwe analyze in conversation with international experts and others the following questions: Who are the actors of the movements, what motivates them, what visions of a better future do they pursue? How do you articulate yourself, which channels do you use? Is a new democracy developing "off the street" - and what does this mean for democracy promotion? There will then be an opportunity to talk to the panelists and other activists from Chad, Ethiopia, Burundi and the DR Congo. Denn trotz des wirtschaftlichen Aufschwungs vieler afrikanischer Länder hat sich die Lebenssituation der meisten Afrikaner/innen kaum verbessert. Stattdessen werden demokratische Grundsätze kontinentweit eingeschränkt. Zu Tausenden gehen deswegen Menschen auf die Straßen Simbabwes, Südafrikas, der D.R. Kongo, Äthiopiens, Senegals, Nigerias, Burundis und anderer Länder, demonstrieren, twittern und bloggen für mehr Demokratie und Selbstbestimmung.Die Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung und die Deutsche Welle bieten mit dieser Veranstaltung eine außergewöhnliche Möglichkeit, sich aus erster Hand über die aktuellen Entwicklungen und Hintergründe in zahlreichen Ländern Afrikas zu informieren. Aktivist/innen aus Senegal und Simbabwe analysieren im Gespräch mit internationalen Expert/innen u.a. folgende Fragen:Wer sind die Akteur/innen der Bewegungen, welche Motivation treibt sie an, welche Visionen einer besseren Zukunft verfolgen sie? Wie artikulieren sie sich, welche Kanäle nutzen sie?
