Top Right: As seen from the cockpit of the lead aircraft, two F/A-18 “Hornet” strike fighters assigned to the "Wildcats" of Strike Fighter Squadron One Three One (VFA-131) conduct combat missions over Afghanistan. The "Wildcats" are part of Carrier Air Wing Seven (CVW-7) embarked on board USS John F. Kennedy (CV-67) currently deployed in the region in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. The Marines of Company I, 3rd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment (Reinforced), the ground combat element of Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force - Afghanistan, are operating in Bakwa to maintain security in the rural area. U.S. Marines are in Afghanistan to reinforce success and sustain the momentum of the ongoing progress by alliance forces.
