Argyropelecus gigas^[1] es un pez que pertenece a la familia Sternoptychidae.^[2] Se encuentra en todos los océanos, excepto en la zona mesopelágica del norte del Pacífico. Mide aproximadamente 110 milímetros (4,3 pulgadas) de longitud estándar.^[3]

Esta especie fue reconocida por primera vez en 1930 por John Roxborough Norman.^[4]
