Steven Josefsson Fragogiannis (Atenas; 22 de noviembre de 1982), más conocido por su nombre artístico Steve Angello, es un DJ, remezclador y productor griego-sueco; también dueño y fundador del sello discográfico Size Records. Forma parte del grupo de música electrónica Swedish House Mafia, junto a Sebastian Ingrosso y Axwell.[1]​

En 2010, llegó a posicionarse en el puesto #14 en la lista Top 100 DJs, realizada por la revista DJ Mag, siendo su mejor ubicación en la lista.[2]​

Biografía[editar]

Steven Josefsson nació en Atenas (Grecia), por parte de un padre griego y una madre sueca, cuyo abuelo materno era gitano. Se quedó huérfano de padre después que fuese asesinado por la mafia griega y tuvo que partir a Suecia,[3]​ donde conocería a su amigo Sebastian Ingrosso, con el que trabajó más adelante en Swedish House Mafia, cuando contaba con tan solo siete años.[4]​ Steven se crio en el municipio de Solna, situado en la capital sueca, junto con su hermano Antoine Josefsson (AN21).

A los doce años de edad, Angello comenzó como DJ de scratching, mezclando hip-hop, breakbeats y clásicos de los 70; pero más tarde comenzó a escuchar música electrónica y se cambió al estilo house junto a Sebastian Ingrosso.[5]​

Trayectoria musical[editar]

La fama de Steve llegó cuando lanzó un remix de Eurythmics «Sweet Dreams» en 2004. Desde entonces se ha ganado un reconocimiento dentro de la música house.

Angello produce su música bajo numerosos alias. Él mismo se ha denominado Who's Who y publicó títulos como "Not So Dirty" y "Sexy F*ck". En sus comienzos, trabajó de cerca con su compañero y amigo de toda la vida, Sebastian Ingrosso. Además de tocar juntos, han producido numerosos proyectos bajo los pseudónimos Fireflies, General Moders, Mode Hookers, Outfunk o The Sinners. Bajo su proyecto paralelo llamado Buy Now lanzaron en 2005 la destacada pista "For Sale", y en 2008, han puesto a la venta "Bodycrash", sampleando a "Let's All Chant" de Michael Zager Band.

También ha trabajado junto con Eric Prydz bajo el nombre A&P Project. Incluso fue el creador de "Tell Me Why", junto con su compañero Axwell, en un proyecto llamado Supermongo, renombrado más tarde a Supermode. En 2008, lanzó una nueva versión del clásico de Robin S. «Show Me Love» junto a un frecuente colaborador, el neerlandés Laidback Luke. Además lanzó una serie de producciones junto a su hermano menor Antoine Josefsson, más conocido como AN21, y remixaron junto a Max Vangeli, "The Island", uno de los últimos sencillos de la banda de drum and bass, Pendulum. Su primer disco como solista, llamado Wild Youth, Publicó la primera parte (6 de 13 tracks), el 20 de noviembre de 2015 en medios digitales. Su lanzamiento total y oficial fue el 22 de enero de 2016.

Su segundo álbum de estudio Human, se publicó el 27 de abril de 2018 a través de Size Records. Inicialmente tuvo su lanzamiento en tres adelantos que consistió en los EP "Genesis", "Inferno" y "Paradiso" durante 2017 y el sencillo "Nothing Scares Me Anymore" en 2018. Según Angello, Human es un álbum conceptual inspirado en un viaje a una iglesia de su ciudad natal en Estocolmo durante un período en el que consideró alejarse de la música, debido a su insatisfacción con la búsqueda constante de atención en el mundo de las redes sociales.[6]​

Además de publicar sus canciones con las discográficas Subliminal, Data Records, Cr2 y Refune, Steve Angello es poseedor y creador de la discográfica Size Records, situada en Estocolmo, Suecia. A la cual también pertenece su hermano y también Dj AN21 Además del amigo de este Max Vangeli. A través de ella ha lanzado singles como "Gypsy", "Isabel" o "Flonko". Size Records también representa a artistas como Funkagenda, Kim Fai, Thomas Gold, Veerus & Maxie Devine, Nari & Milani, Qulinez, Tim Mason, Third Party, entre otros.

En abril de 2013 lanzó su nuevo sello “X” o “Size X” en conmemoración de sus diez años con el sello Size Records. Esta nueva incursión incluye una temática más orientada al género tech house. Trent Cantrelle con "Nice & Close” fue el lanzamiento que inauguró el sello.[7]​

Vida personal[editar]

Steve Angello está casado con la modelo sueca Isabel Adrián, con la que ha tenido dos niñas: Monday Lily nacida en 2008 y Winter Rose nacida en 2011. Actualmente vive en Los Ángeles con su hermano AN21, su esposa y sus dos hijas.[8]​

Misceláneas[editar]

Angello declaró en su propio reality, SizeTV, que hace dos años había perdido la audición de un oído y por lo tanto no utilizaba audífonos para mezclar,[9]​ y continuó diciendo que si el reproductor marca el tempo de los dos tracks puedes cuadrarlos tranquilamente sin utilizar audífonos, y que solo se trata de conocer los tracks que mezclarás. No es difícil mezclar sin audífonos, mencionó.
