Soy Juan David Ruiz, colaborador y bibliotecario-burócrata de Wikipedia en español desde abril de 2003, miembro del equipo de soporte (enero de 2006) e integrante del Comité de comunicaciones de la Fundación Wikimedia (febrero de 2007). Desde Wikimania 2005 me he especializado en responder preguntas y contestar entrevistas para diarios, revistas y radios sobre Wikipedia y el resto de los proyectos Wikimedia. Desde septiembre de 2006 estoy dedicando casi toda mi vida laboral a los wikis debido a mi trabajo como Community Manager de Wikia.
Llegué aquí porque me interesó mucho el carácter de Enciclopedia Libre de Wikipedia y, en ese afán, estoy dispuesto a colaborar cuanto me sea posible. Mis áreas de interés son las de las Ciencias Sociales, especialmente Derecho, Historia, Geografía y Periodismo.
Cuando decubrí a la Wikipedia en español, en marzo de 2003, todo estaba muy abandonado. Se podía trabajar con tranquilidad, pero había que resolver los problemas que surgían con ingenio y un software que en ese momento no ayudaba mucho. Después de un tiempo de elaborar artículos AstroNomo me nombró dedocráticamente administrador. En ese momento sólo él, PACO, Centeno y yo éramos administradores de habla hispana. ¡Cómo ha crecido todo esto!
Además, soy el fundador del sitio especializado en hardware y tecnología Mapocho Valley, del cual fui editor jefe y administrador durante 2002 y 2003. Ya no tengo tiempo para mantener ese sitio. Cuando tengo tiempo escribo en mi blog y como pueden ver, no he tenido tiempo. :-)
