Rudiviridae es una familia de virus que comprende un sólo género, Rudivirus,[1] que infecta a la arquea Sulfolobus.[2] Comparten características con la familia Lipothrixviridae pues ambos son virus filamentosos con genomas ADN bicatenarios lineales que infectan arqueas termófilas[3] del filo Crenarchaeota.[4] Por ello pertenecen al Grupo I de la Clasificación de Baltimore. No presentan envoltura.[5] La replicación y topología del genoma de los miembros de la familia Rudiviridae son similiares a los de Poxviridae.[6] [7] [8]
