El King of the Ring fue un torneo anual de la empresa de lucha libre World Wrestling Entertainment realizado por primera vez en el año 1985 hasta el 2008. Desde el 1993 hasta el 2002 el torneo formó parte de un evento de pago por visión bajo el mismo nombre. Luego de cuatro años de receso, el torneo de Rey del Ring regresó en el 2006 como un evento exclusivo de la marca SmackDown!.

Aunque el primer pay-per-view de King of the Ring se realizó en el 1993, el torneo original fue llevado a cabo en el 1985. El ganador de este primer evento lo fue Don Muraco. El segundo ganador, Harley Race es reconocido como el primer luchador en integrar su victoria en el torneo a su personaje en la lucha libre (haciéndose llamar el "Rey de la Lucha Libre"). Otros luchadores que hicieron lo mismo lo son: Randy Savage (Macho King), Owen Hart ("King of Harts"), "King" Mabel (ahora conocido como Big Daddy V), Kurt Angle y, más recientemente, Booker T ("King Booker").
