Desperdicio alimenticio

Desperdicio alimenticio es cualquier sustancia comestible, cruda o cocinada, descartada, prevista o requerida a ser descartada[1] [2] Dado que varias organizaciones tienen su propia definición de «desperdicio», también tienen su propia definición para lo que es un «desperdicio alimenticio».
La Agencia de Protección Ambiental de los Estados Unidos lo define como "desperdicios de comida preparada o comida que no se ha comido de residencias y establecimientos comerciales como tiendas de comestibles, restaurantes, y locales de producción, cafeterías y cocinas institucionales y fuentes industriales como los comedores de empleados.[3]
